Canada in car share mode
Sierra Leone News.Net Saturday 26th July, 2008
Car-share co-ops have become the rage in Canada.
Due to the price of petrol, members of car-sharing co-operatives can now order cars online, picking them up from parking spots scattered around their community.
Members pay a one-time fee to use the vehicles, then an hourly fee each time they use a car.
Insurance, repairs and car payments are already covered.
A Toronto-based car share hirer is charging from between US$45 to US$67 per day.
Vancouver's Co-operative Auto Network now has a fleet of about 200 cars and more than 7,000 drivers.
Other car-share organizations have sprouted up all over Canada.
