DAKAR, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Senegalese Ministry of Health and Social Action reported Thursday 98 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to 2,812 in the country.
These 98 new infections came from 1,215 tests done in the past 24 hours, the ministry's spokesperson Dr. Alyose Waly Diouf said, adding that they were 92 follow-up contact cases and six community transmission ones.
He also announced that 65 more patients were cured, bringing the total recovery cases to 1,251 since the beginning of the pandemic in Senegal.
Soon after the daily briefing, the health authorities reported two new deaths related to COVID-19. So far, a total of 32 patients had lost their lives to COVID-19.
Senegal is in state of emergency until June 2, with a curfew imposed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. It is also mandatory to wear masks at all public places.
