ABUJA, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Nigerian basketball authorities on Tuesday released a 12-man list here for the third window of the FIBA African World Cup qualifiers' first round.
The incoming competitions will take place in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, slated for June 27 to July 5.
The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) also named two coaches to handle the team, said a statement by the NBBF's spokesman Afolabi Oni.
Nigeria, currently ranked first among the African countries in the FIBA World ranking system, will open its campaign against Cape Verde on Friday, before taking on Mali on Saturday. The last game will be against Uganda on Sunday at the BK Arena in Kigali.
During the previous windows of the African qualifiers' first round, Nigeria grabbed five points from three games, siting atop group A.
The first round includes 16 teams, which are divided into four groups. The top three teams from each group will advance to the second round, which will be divided into two groups.
The two top teams in each group of the second round, along with the best third-placed team, will qualify for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
