RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Brazil center-back Gabriel Magalhaes has been ruled out of the team's friendly against Tunisia due to a thigh muscle strain, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said on Sunday.

The 27-year-old Arsenal player sustained the injury in Brazil's 2-0 victory over Senegal in London on Saturday and he was substituted after briefly receiving treatment on the pitch.

Subsequent scans ruled him out of Tuesday's clash against the African team in the northern French city of Lille.

"Gabriel was re-evaluated on Sunday and underwent imaging tests that revealed a muscle injury in his right thigh," read a CBF statement.

"Therefore, he will not travel with the rest of the squad. No other player will be called up to replace him."

Sao Paulo-born Gabriel has been capped 17 times for Brazil since his international debut in September 2023.
