BAMAKO, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Mahazou Baba Cisset was elected president of the Malian Football Federation on Thursday at an extraordinary general assembly held in Bamako.
Cisset won the vote with 69 in favor, one against and two abstentions, with his term running until 2030. He was the only candidate remaining after three other bids were rejected by the federation's electoral commission.
The election was held after most members of the previous executive committee, including former president Mamoutou Toure, resigned following Mali's disappointing campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
