Malian military prosecutor launches investigation into April armed attacks

BAMAKO, May 2 (Xinhua) -- The prosecutor's office of the Bamako Military Tribunal said Friday that it had launched an investigation into the attacks that took place in Mali on April 25.

According to a statement issued by the office, the attacks targeted several military and security sites, including locations in the city of Bamako and Kati, as well as the residence of Mali's minister of defense and veterans affairs.

The statement also said the ongoing investigation had already uncovered several leads pointing to the involvement of both serving soldiers and retired military personnel.

The prosecutor's office said the investigation would continue and further information would be released in due course.
